Notes: Salazar's view on Godric/Rowena. Humorous, of course.



Salazar notices things sometimes. Simple things, like supposedly discreet looks and a brush of hands that lasts far too long to be accidental. He notices the constant flush upon Rowena’s face, and the manner in which she bites her lip to stop herself from smiling; he notices the softness in her eyes when she inquires about Godric’s day over supper.

Salazar notices, yet says nothing to them. Occasionally, he shares a glance with Helga, but more often than not, she only laughs. “Let them think they’re decent at keeping secrets,” she tells him once. “It would only horrify dear Rowena if she realized otherwise.”

“It horrifies me to simply watch them,” he replies moodily. “I have not seen either of them so distracted since the commencement of the school.”

“Then don’t watch, Salazar. And you know that Godric will reveal their courtship to us soon enough. He can’t stand to hide these things for long.”

“That will merely encourage them, Helga,” he says with exasperation. “I will be forced to put out my eyes and walk blindly, lest I continue to be made witness to their actions.”

“Oh, hush,” she admonishes. “It’s not so bad as that.”

“Forgive me if I do not share in your sentiments,” he mutters.

He watches as Rowena strides past him and out of the Great Hall, Godric following at a slower pace. As the latter is about to push through the large wooden doors, he pauses and then turns round to wink at Salazar.

“You see?” Helga says, amused.

“Romanticisms,” he scoffs, and takes a long drink from his goblet.
