I am on a
semi-indefinite hiatus

I may pop up every now and again, but I don't particularly plan on it.
To my friends, you've been wonderful. To visitors, I apologize for not
replying to your comments. I will still read every one.

I am no longer adding new friends.

So, over the past year couple months, I've had some people add me as friends. Which is very exciting! Hello! *waves*

The thing is, I don't think I've actually added anybody back... I sort of fail at that. But in part, I guess it's because I don't know if you're friending me just for fic/graphics/occasional-artistic-attempts and updates (which is totally okay! I do that too!), or if you're interested in reading my blog posts or getting to know me or what have you.

ANYWAY, getting to the point of this post: If you've friended me, and would like me to friend you back, please comment on this post letting me know! I love having new friends! But if you're here for the fandomy stuff, and don't want me to add you back, that's totally okay, too, I promise. I'm just really flattered that you want to keep track of my stuff. ♥

tl;dr: Comment to be added? I should've made a post like this ages ago, I know.

ETA June 6, 2011: All non-friends now have to do the CAPTCHA thing in order to comment. I know this is annoying, but I've been getting a lot of spam comments lately.

ETA June 16, 2011: I've changed it to all commenters. The spam has only increased. Sorry if the CAPTCHA thing is annoying. :\

CAPTCHA should now be off.

ETA April 9, 2012: As of today, I am no longer adding new friends. I don't go on LiveJournal much anymore, and would like to keep it that way.

Title: The Girl in the Woods
Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jacob/Bella unrequited, past Edward/Bella
Rating: G
Word Count: 166
Summary: Perhaps you can make her smile again / without sticks and strings to shape her form. / But she isn’t the child you used to know, / muddy and sunlit and dreaming.
Author's Notes: The kind of mood I was in today. Listen to this and this at the same time (trust me) while you read. The second link leads to the song "Þú ert sólin" by Ólafur Arnalds. The title (which honestly I didn't realize until after I wrote this) apparently means "you are the sun." Perfect, right? So combine those two links together for some extra metaphorical goodness. This started out as a drabble and morphed into a poem when I decided to add line breaks. Takes place during New Moon. I realize these author's notes are longer than the poem, shh.

Title: Summer Quiet
Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jacob/Bella
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 3,883
Summary: Quiet summers in Jacob’s garage are never as quiet as they seem.
Author's Notes: Written for the fic exchange at [info]theair_thesun, and originally posted here. My recipient requested the following three things: 1) “Are you afraid that I’m getting too much attention?” / “I’m afraid that I'm going to have to hurt somebody.” 2) Quembry, incriminating scene, “This isn’t what it looks like.” 3) “You will not distract me with your feminine wiles. Begone, temptress.” She also requested there be no zombie!Bella, and no Breaking Dawn. This ought to fit the bill.

The season finale of Sherlock has got me desperately lapping up angsty and/or hopeful post-Reichenbach John/Sherlock fics. If you are experiencing a similar reaction, read this fic at once:

My Dear Watson by [info]saeng [PG-13]
Summary is spoilery, so highlight to view: Post-Reichenbach. Sherlock's dead, and John finds himself questioning his own stability when he discovers a note taped to the bottom of his mattress, propelling him on a hunt for answers that may not exist at all.

It is perfect, and also interactive (in that there are Google Maps links to the locations, so you can explore them on your own).

Oh, hey, and because it needs saying: British TV >>>>> American TV

Also, after reading all of these fics, I will be really disappointed if in series 3, John doesn't punch Sherlock in the face immediately.

Title: The Trick Step | AO3 Link
Fandom: Harry Potter
Type: Gen, with hints of het and femmeslash (and some OT3)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 17,000
Characters/Pairings: Luna Lovegood, Pansy Parkinson, Draco Malfoy, and implied combinations thereof
Summary: The notes kept coming, and Luna kept finding them. Luna encounters a mystery that needs solving – one that takes her beyond anything she ever imagined.
Author’s Notes: Written for [info]journeystory. Remind me to never procrastinate. Ever. Again. This is supposed to be set vaguely during the fourth book, just before the Triwizard stuff. There's kind of an unplanned emphasis on Pansy/Luna, possibly unrequited, because Pansy really, really wanted to like Luna, and I couldn't stop her. The connection between hope and feathers belongs to Emily Dickinson. I recently read Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, and ever since, I've been really intrigued by how the transition between childhood and adulthood, and coming into oneself, is shown in stories. So I think Pansy is somewhat reflecting that here, especially in her attraction to Luna. My apologies in advance for the ending.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I haven't been on LJ because I got a smallish job this winter break, and because I decided I'd read one hundred books in 2011. And I did! But my responses to those books were so long that I need two LJ posts in which to do it. So here's part one of two. I hid all of my reactions, spoilery or non-spoilery, so highlight the ones you want to read at your own risk. If you're interested, here are the books I read last year.

Keep in mind that my comments to the books are in no way scholarly. Sometimes there is capslock.
